What is this course?

We're so excited to welcome you to our first ever in-person gathering in the US! We'll spend our four days together practicing Jewish Meditation, studying and discussing deep, transformative Torah related to our spiritual development, engaging in creative expression, and doing some very gentle guided movement (Chi Kung). And of course, we will eat a delicious, healthy lunch together each day, and have some time to develop our connections with one another. The theme guiding the retreat will be our ongoing inner work of becoming more compassionate and effective agents of healing, for ourselves, those around us, our own people, and the entire world. Our first day together will fall on the first day of the Hebrew month of Av, which marks the start of the Nine Days of Mourning leading up to Tisha B'Av (the 9th of Av), when we mourn the destruction of the two previous Jewish commonwealths and temples. Our spiritual teachers invite us to use this time to examine what is broken and missing in ourselves and in our world, that we may become more loving and effective vessels for repair. As we will explore together, these Nine Days of Mourning lead us into the joyful rebirth of Tu B'Av (a full-moon love festival) and the loving reconnection of the following month, Elul - the month of return (Teshuvah) and preparation for the New Year.
