What is this course?

This is the option to try the first session this eight session course as a free sample. Jewish tradition offers many pathways toward freedom—through ancestral narratives, practices, and the rhythms of sacred time. From the national origin story of the Exodus from Egypt, to the first encounter with the Divine Liberator at Mount Sinai, to the rhythms of Shabbat and the Sabbatical year that carry a vision of freedom for society and the planet, the Torah provides a path of liberation for both individuals and the collective. In the cycle of the Jewish calendar year, the holidays of Tu Bishvat, Purim, and Passover open a unique seasonal portal to freedom. This course follows the spiritual arc of these holidays, exploring how liberation unfolds through their rituals, teachings, and inner processes. Drawing on a wide range of texts from the Jewish spiritual tradition and integrating practices drawn from these teachings, we will explore freedom as an embodied, lived experience. Together, we will discover that freedom is not only a release from oppression, but a way of living in deep relationship with the earth, with one another, with the blessings and turnings of life, and with our Creator. This course is open to participants of all backgrounds and levels of experience. No prior Jewish learning is required, and all texts will be provided in Hebrew with English translation. HOW DOES IT WORK? The course consists of eight live online sessions, of 75 - 90 minutes each. Each class is recorded as well, and is sent out to all registrants following each class, so that you can watch the recordings at your own convenience. There will also be an optional WhatsApp group to allow for connection and sharing among our community between sessions. Each session includes a printable translated handout of teachings. In the live, interactive online class, Rabbi Ami will guide us through the texts and offer guided practices based on the topic of focus. There will also be time dedicated to Q&A and personal reflections. DATES AND TIMES Sunday, February 1 at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK / 8pm Israel and the relevant hours in other time zones, for 75 - 90. The first session is available here as a free trial.
