JOIN THE KAVANNAH CIRCLE

Jewish wisdom is not only something to study—it is something to live.

The Kavannah Circle offers a dedicated space to explore your questions, deepen your practice, and engage personally with the richness of Jewish wisdom.

As a Kavannah Circle member, you'll receive six private one-on-one sessions with Rabbi Daniel over the course of the year, in addition to all the benefits of Annual Membership. Each confidential session is shaped around your needs.

There is no fixed agenda or curriculum—our conversations are guided by your questions, experiences, and aspirations.

Some members use this time for Spiritual Direction—a space for reflection, discernment, and deepening their relationship with their own Divinity, which we explain in more depth below.

Others bring questions about Torah, Kabbalah, prayer, Jewish spirituality, or their own spiritual practice.

Many discover that the sessions naturally become a blend of learning, conversation, spiritual reflection, and personal growth.

Whether you're seeking greater clarity, a deeper understanding of Jewish wisdom, support through a particular season of life, or help integrating what you're learning into daily practice, these conversations are designed to meet you where you are and accompany you on your journey.

How Kavannah Circle members use their personalized sessions:

Each session is shaped around you.

There is no fixed curriculum or format—our conversations follow the questions, interests, and experiences that are alive for you.

For many members, this includes a blend of:

  • Exploring Jewish spiritual wisdom

Engaging deeply with Torah, Kabbalah, Chasidut, and Jewish spiritual texts—asking questions, unpacking ideas, and exploring areas of learning that matter to you.

  • Spiritual Direction, personal reflection and guidance

Making space for life’s transitions, challenges, questions, and inner movements, and exploring them through the lens of Jewish wisdom and practice.

Often, these two pathways are not separate. A text might open a question about your life, or something in your life might open a new way of understanding a text.

In many cases, the sessions naturally move between study, reflection, and practical integration.

You don’t need to decide in advance what kind of session you are coming for.

We begin with what is present, and follow where it leads.

"It has been my privilege to engage in Spiritual Direction with Daniel Silverstein for the past three and a half years. Daniel has helped me to see my personal struggles and aspirations in the light of Kabbalistic teachings, the Torah and contemporary psychological insight. He is kind, supportive, informed, articulate and reliable. I heartily endorse him as a Spiritual Director for someone who is committed to their spiritual growth."

One way members use these sessions: Spiritual Direction

Spiritual Direction is a process of attunement - a practice of sacred listening, in which a trained companion helps you to hear the "small, still voice" of the Divine inside yourself.

Our spiritual teachers have long shared with us that our own innermost being, the source of our deepest desires, is itself a "piece of the Divine" - our neshama or soul.

We do not need to create our Divine spark, or even improve it, rather to practice becoming more familiar with it, and to aligning ourselves with its subtleties through the many seasons and chapters of our life.

As we do this work, we gradually learn how to live in greater intimacy and harmony with that which we yearn for most deeply.

"I've been on a search for someone to help me understand and connect with authentic Judaism. I began working with Rabbi Daniel and I'm so grateful for his humility, authenticity, and nonjudgmental approach. He meets me where I'm at in my struggle to make sense of things. And what I value most is the way he gives me space to embrace what truly connects with me. I am so grateful for the clarity our time together brings."

What actually happens in a Spiritual Direction session?

Sessions often begin with a moment of silence, meditation, or simply allowing ourselves to arrive.

You may come with a particular question or intention, or simply begin by sharing what is alive for you.

From there, the sessions naturally unfold, with Rabbi Daniel holding space, listening deeply and offering any questions or reflections that arise, at the appropriate moment. These responses are intended to help you deepen your own process of reflection and spiritual growth.

It's a simple-sounding formula, and yet surprisingly effective.

"I met with Rabbi Daniel for one-on-one sessions at a time when I was facing several life challenges. His great wisdom, generosity of spirit, and kind, gentle guidance grounded in Torah teachings, was incredibly helpful at a difficult time. I highly recommend scheduling sessions with Rabbi Daniel. He inspired important growth and learning. I am very grateful."
