To deepen in this month of Ellul, I am delighted to bring the themes of this month into an embodied practice, that weaves yoga practice with Jewish wisdom! Ellul invites us to look both back and forward — to take spiritual accounting, to release and renew, and to prepare for the sweetness of the year ahead.
I’m excited to introduce a new monthly feature - Hineni with Ami: Yoga and Jewish Spirituality - a grounded practice of body, breath, and presence. The class weaves together yoga practice with Jewish wisdom in a syncretic experience, lovingly curated for this community!
The teachings echo the themes of Rabbi Daniel’s teachings on each month - to help us embody, integrate and ground deeper into the profound wisdom of the cycles of Jewish time.
Ami’s class for Ellul centers on reciprocity, breath, and mindful action. It offers an embodied invitation as we close the year and prepare for the one to come — using posture and breath to connect with teshuvah, the process of returning to our inner spark of goodness, releasing the old, and opening space for the new. When we take inspired action from this place, our gestures ripple outward into the world.
Below you can find the practice in two forms: a modified form that uses a chair, which may be more accessible for some folks, and one without the chair.
With blessings,
Rabbi Bluth
