To continue deepening our practice, I’m delighted to share this month’s Hineni with Ami: Yoga and Jewish Spirituality. Many of you joined in Elul, and now in Tishrei, we turn together toward the themes of the High Holidays — grounding them in body, breath, and presence.
Embracing Tishrei: A Month of Renewal
Tishrei is a month of renewal and return. Through Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot, we are invited to experience rebirth and self-acceptance. This time encourages forgiveness and reconnection, joy, nature, and the embrace of the Divine. Each holiday offers a unique opportunity to reflect and grow.
Ami weaves these themes into a gentle, embodied practice — accessible to all levels, including those who prefer or require the support of a chair. Her approach is inviting, allowing each participant to find their own rhythm and connection to the sacred.
The Power of Presence
Come as you are — Ami’s practice welcomes everyone, making space for presence, renewal, and joy. In this practice, we learn to listen to our bodies. We discover how to breathe deeply, grounding ourselves in the moment. This connection to our physical selves enhances our spiritual journey.
As we move through the poses, we cultivate awareness. Each breath becomes a bridge to our inner worlds. We explore the interplay between body and spirit, recognizing that they are not separate but intertwined.
Integrating Teachings
As always, the teachings echo the themes of Rabbi Daniel’s teachings on each month. These teachings help us embody, integrate, and ground deeper into the profound wisdom of the cycles of Jewish time. They remind us that spirituality is not just an abstract concept but a lived experience.
In this way, we can embrace the essence of Jewish mysticism. We learn to integrate these ancient teachings into our daily lives. This integration fosters a deeper, more embodied spiritual practice.
The Journey Ahead
As we journey through Tishrei, let us embrace the opportunities for growth and transformation. Each holiday invites us to reflect on our lives and our relationships. We are encouraged to seek forgiveness, to reconnect with loved ones, and to celebrate the beauty of creation.
In this spirit, I invite you to join Ami’s practice. It is a chance to explore your own spirituality through movement and breath. You may find that yoga becomes a pathway to deeper understanding and connection.
